Accounts Payable Assistant based at Epworth House, Derby

Permanent - Full Time - 37 hours per week

About Us:
At MHA, we are committed to making a difference through our work and supporting our community. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our dynamic finance team.

Purpose of Position:
As an Accounts Payable Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Accounts Payable (AP) Manager and team. You will be the first point of contact for AP queries from both suppliers and internal colleagues, ensuring that invoice settlements are processed efficiently and accurately. Your role will involve building strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate smooth and timely payments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Process supplier invoices and credits with accuracy.
  • Liaise with suppliers and MHA colleagues to resolve queries and ensure timely payments.
  • Submit payment files and remittances punctually.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and maintain a clean ledger.
  • Ensure compliance with MHA policies and relevant legislation.
  • Support the AP Manager with audit requirements and provide information to the Financial Accounts team as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvements and maintain effective financial controls.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Experience: Experience in accounts payable within a fast-paced finance function. Previous experience in a non-profit organization is desirable.
  • Skills/Knowledge: Excellent communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and strong analytical abilities.
  • Personal Qualities: Attention to detail, well-organized, results-driven, and enthusiastic about identifying opportunities for improvement.
