Two colleagues will be cycling almost 1700 miles to raise funds for MHA The Willows.

Lysiane Gilmour and Lynne Morrilly both work at the Cheshire home and will be taking part in the virtual challenge to raise funds for a tiny tablet, an interactive device designed specifically for elderly and dementia residents to use for various activities.

The idea to travel to Gibraltar was in line with the King's Coronation as Gibraltar was the first country to issue stamps with the King's Cypher.

The challenge will run for 6 months, with the total distance being 1698 miles.

Landmarks such as London, Paris and others will be marked as motivation for the two to continue on their way.

Collectively they will aim to cycle at least 60 miles a week and a JustGiving page has been set up for them to hit the target.

Lysiane Gilmour, administration manager said: “I did a walking challenge last year and really enjoyed it, and wanted to go that bit further this time.

“With the cost of living affecting plenty of people like myself, I decided to buy a bike and cycle to work.

“The journey from my house to work is eight miles and I want to use the trips to not only get fit, but use it as an opportunity to raise funds and that's how the idea came about.”

“We wanted to make this a team event and so in order to encourage the staff to participate, CPASE,also located in Warford Park, have kindly loaned us a static bike!”

Lynne Morrilly, who works as an activity coordinator added: “It will be great if we can raise the funds as it will be the first tiny tablet for the home.

“Exercise is something that makes us all feel better and especially now with the weather getting better it gives you a reason to exercise.

“We have only just started the challenge and it's been a little tricky, but we are both confident we will get the hang of it and achieve what we have set out to do.”
