Connections can change everything

For many older people, bereavement and other life changes can bring
loneliness and isolation.

The people, routines and connections that once filled everyday life may no longer be there. Familiar routines become harder, conversations become less frequent, and confidence can fade. Gradually, the world can start to feel smaller.

MHA brings older people experiencing loneliness together with volunteer befrienders who offer regular companionship, conversation and a friendly face.

It might be a phone call, a friendly face, or time spent together doing something you both enjoy. These moments of connection can help someone build confidence, make new friends, and reconnect with their community.

How you can help

A donation to MHA can help us reach more older people experiencing loneliness with friendship, companionship and opportunities to reconnect with their community.

Volunteer as a befriender

You don't need to do anything extraordinary to make a difference. As an MHA befriender, you could offer regular conversation, companionship and a friendly face to an older person experiencing loneliness.
