Where are we?
Sandygate is situated in the quiet South Yorkshire town of Wath upon Dearne, close to Rotherham, Sheffield, Barnsley & Doncaster, with excellent public transport links.
We are a short walk from the town centre, with numerous amenities including a library, church, weekly market, local shops, tearooms and public house.
Activities, trips and events
Our Activity Coordinator works hard to keep our residents active and entertained with a fun-packed weekly activities calendar including:
At Sandygate, we try to arrange trips for our residents, from meals out at the local pub, to shopping trips and days at the seaside.
And we love any excuse to put on a themed event. Every year we arrange summer and Christmas fayres, which are very popular with our resident’s and families as well as the local community who will often come and join in the fun.
Music therapy at Sandygate
Sandygate is committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained therapist is funded by charitable donations.
Matt spends a day each week at the home and interacts directly with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting.
Chaplaincy and pastoral support
Sandygate is proud to be supported by two dedicated Chaplains, Gail and Neil, who offer pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs.
Gail & Neil are in the home three days a week, providing a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends, relatives and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs and organise worship for those who wish to participate.
Seize the day – unique and memorable opportunities
Funded through charitable support, every MHA care home also prides itself in being able to offer unique and memorable opportunities and activities for residents to quite literally help them 'seize the day'.
