Sam Monaghan is Chief Executive of Methodist Homes (MHA), a leading charitable care provider dedicated to supporting older people to live later life well. Since joining MHA in 2018, Sam has led the organisation through a period of significant transformation and growth, ensuring that MHA continues to provide high-quality care, support and housing across its care homes, retirement living communities and community-based services.
With a career spanning several decades in the voluntary and public sectors, Sam brings extensive leadership experience in social care, health and charity management. Before joining MHA, he held senior positions at Barnardo’s, one of the UK’s leading children's charities, where he was Director of Children's Services. His experience across different sectors has given him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing vulnerable groups at all stages of life.
Sam is passionate about social care reform and is a vocal advocate for change across the sector. He is committed to driving forward conversations with policymakers, partners and stakeholders to ensure older people have access to the care and support they need and deserve. His leadership is underpinned by a strong sense of social justice, a focus on person-centred care, and a belief that everyone should be able to live with dignity and purpose in later life.
