Explore The Wilderness

The Wilderness is a unique heritage garden located in Croydon, South London. First established by the Secretary of the Royal Horticultural Society over 100 years ago, MHA has reclaimed and made accessible this site of Metropolitan Importance for Conservation, and now delivers an engaging programme of nature based activities together with a tranquil hideaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The Wilderness is a heritage woodland garden, created by Rev. William Wilks in the early 20th Century.

It has undergone extensive conservation funded by the National Lottery to create inclusive community garden for all, especially older people and those living with mental, physical and social challenges.

We offer a range of Green Care programmes and wellbeing activities are delivered in partnership with local organisations.

At MHA The Wilderness and Hall Grange we endeavour to enable people to access the garden when and how they would like to. We understand that the opportunity to access the nature can be of benefit to everyone.
