Your sponsorship in action
Every mile you run and every pound you raise can make a real difference to an older person’s life. Sponsorship helps MHA support older people who might otherwise face loneliness, isolation, or the challenges that come with later life. Your efforts enable simple but powerful moments of connection, comfort and joy, from friendly conversations and community activities to innovative ways of supporting people living with dementia.
Here are just a few of the ways your sponsorship could help.

£25
Could help fund befriending visits, bringing conversation and companionship to someone who may not otherwise see anyone.

£50
Could help someone attend friendship groups, building relationships and rediscovering confidence.

£150
Could help provide regular telephone support, offering reassurance and a friendly voice when it is needed most.

Emily's story
Since mum passed away two years ago, Dad was clearly very lonely but stoically carried on with good humour, driving to gardening club and coffee mornings to socialise. However, after he broke his hip in a fall last year and could no longer drive, his stoicism faltered.
The transportation service that you provide has quite literally been a lifeline. Dad really loves your infectious enthusiasm when collecting him, and it is during the long drive home where he sees places he hasn’t seen for a while that he maintains his connections, both physically and mentally, with the areas that have been part of his neighbourhood for over 60 years.
Dad looks forward eagerly to his days with you, and as his sons and carers we benefit too as the time we have with him is of a much higher quality; knowing he is nourished, cared-for, and stimulated when we are unavailable ourselves. Without you and all you provide his life would not be as rich and his happiness significantly reduced.
