Our garden is the hear of the home where we hold many activities and social events. As a gardening volunteer, you will be helping to create and maintain a safe, relaxing space for our residents to enjoy.

You will hopefully have some gardening knowledge and skills and come with some experience of gardening maintenance, although this can be basic as training will be given. 

You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development as well as helping to enrich the lives of older people in your community.

What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer gardener?  

  • We will provide you with a full induction to the role
  • Ongoing support from a named contact
  • Out of pocket expenses in accordance with MHA’s Expenses Policy
  • Training and updating of skills and knowledge relevant to the role as appropriate. 
  • You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support 

You can apply online by filling out a short application form.  You will also need to complete a DBS check and attend an induction training session before you start your role.  Before submitting your application, please take time to review the role description, which will detail any additional training which you will need to complete for this role. 

Our Central Volunteering Team will guide you through the application and recruitment process and be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
