One of the most satisfying things to do as MHA’s external communications manager is to see an idea go from an interview request through to fruition.

This was certainly the case recently when our Chief Executive Sam Monaghan was asked to take part in the Voices of Care podcast series, hosted by Newcross Healthcare’s Suhail Mirza.

Part of MHA’s uniqueness is our approach to spirituality, and Sam was able to bring this to the fore in a wide-ranging 35-minute interview.

We treat all media requests positively and equally, whether it is for a local newspaper or national BBC news. In this case, the request came from Suhail for Sam to appear on his popular podcast, we talked it through with Sam and fixed a date for recording.

Sam used the podcast as an opportunity to focus on and explain our distinctive holistic approach, which prioritises physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, and how we are here for people of all faiths or none at all as spirituality is about connecting with something beyond.

The podcast also explored the challenges facing adult social care and the need for reform, as well as exploring Sam’s personal reflections on the rewarding challenges of working within the charity sector, highlighting creativity and commercial insight as essential qualities for leaders in social care.
