The Key to Me programme sounds like a wonderful initiative by Methodist Homes (MHA) that can have a profound impact on both residents and staff. By focusing on life stories and reminiscence, it provides a more personalized approach to care, making residents feel seen and valued for who they are beyond just their immediate needs.

The tools involved, like the one-page profile, the life story booklet, and the themed keys, seem like great ways to spark meaningful conversations, helping staff and loved ones learn more about the residents’ histories, preferences, and personalities. I imagine this could help foster deeper relationships and promote a more individualized care approach. Plus, having volunteers and families get involved—like with the local secondary school students—adds another layer of connection and support.

It also seems like this programme could provide a positive ripple effect: by supporting more meaningful communication, it enhances the residents' experience
