Care assistant at MHA Ryelands who joined aged 18 marks 30-year service

A care home in Derbyshire, has unveiled a thoughtful memorial tree to honor residents who have passed away in 2024. Originally known as the ‚Äòtree of life,‚Äô the tree has been rebranded as a memorial to pay tribute to former residents. Located in the home‚Äôs coffee shop area, the tree features the names of those who are no longer with the community. Sheila Fowkes, the activity coordinator, explained that the memorial tree evolved from the idea of creating something meaningful for the home‚Äôs residents and their families. The tree, which has always been a source of joy, now serves as a poignant reminder of the lives and memories of those who have passed. Relatives of former residents have responded positively to the tribute, often stopping to reflect on the names inscribed on the tree. This initiative has been well received, becoming a conversation starter among staff and visitors. It has provided an opportunity for reflection and remembrance during a time of the year when many are focused
