Something for everyone
I greatly enjoy chatting to members and hearing about their lives, both past and present. I believe everyone has a story to tell. I always feel uplifted and humbled by the people I meet and hope I have helped to make a difference.
Volunteer
Volunteering with MHA gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that I am able to help other people in my local community that are less fortunate than myself. I also feel useful and it gives me something to look forward to and a reason to go out and socialise.
Volunteer
It is such an enjoyable use of my time and I love to be involved in something that helps so many people. I am grateful that I am trusted to run the cheerleading class with our lovely instructor. I really feel like I am helping.
Volunteer
I lost my husband last year and have been very depressed and lonely since. Volunteering with MHA has helped me through a very sad time in my life and I am grateful for that.
Volunteer
I have befriended the same lady for over 10 years, it’s now a friendship. I get as much out of it as she does. I also love the volunteer get-togethers and talking to people doing the same role.
Volunteer
It gives me satisfaction using skills from my work-life, now that I am retired, I feel pleased to be able to be helpful to people living on their own. It makes me realise how fortunate I am, and also to determine to stay as fit and active as possible.
