Our volunteers
An activity group leader may run their own stand alone sessions, or specific activities within a larger group. This will be with support from MHA colleagues.
What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer?
By becoming an activity group leader volunteer, you can help older people to have fun and stay active. You can also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.
How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?
The advert details the days and times we're needing help at the moment. There may be other opportunities to volunteer at other times in the future. Generally, we ask for a minimum of two hours per week for at least six months.
What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?
You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers. Travel expenses will be paid.

You can apply online by filling out a short application form. You will also need to complete a DBS check and attend an induction training session before you start your role. Before submitting your application, please take time to review the role description, which will detail any additional training which you will need to complete for this role. Our Central Volunteering Team will guide you through the application and recruitment process and be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
This is a rolling opportunity and all applicants will be contacted within two weeks time.
