In care homes, many crucial roles quietly keep the wheels turning to ensure residents receive the best possible care and comfort. At MHA, these vital positions are celebrated as part of an ongoing effort to showcase the diverse opportunities within social care.

One such role is that of the kitchen assistant—a position that often goes underappreciated but is essential in supporting the day-to-day lives of residents. Tanya Woodley, who has been a kitchen assistant at MHA Brookfield for seven years, recently shared her experience working in this key role.

Tanya started at the home while studying at college, initially on a flexible contract. Over time, she moved to part-time before transitioning to full-time work. Now 28, she is one of the staff members featured in MHA’s “30 under 30” initiative, which aims to celebrate young employees and encourage others to consider a rewarding career in social care.
