MHA The Willows celebrates 31st birthday with afternoon tea and Music Therapy session

A care home in Stafford, MHA Weston and Queensway, brought joy to residents by hosting a visit from Alfie the donkey, provided by Donkey Ears, an organization that offers therapy donkey visits.

The idea came after residents enjoyed reading The Wonky Donkey, which made Alfie’s visit especially meaningful—he even resembled the donkey from the book, delighting everyone. Residents and staff were excited, with many खुशीfully pointing out that “the wonky donkey is here!”

Activity coordinator Deborah Phillips said the visit was a big success, noting that although the home has hosted animals before, it had been years since a donkey visited. The event also drew interest from other MHA care homes after being shared online.

Overall, Alfie’s calm behavior and the unique experience made the visit memorable, and the home hopes to arrange similar visits again in the future.
