Resident at MHA Brookfield marks 64th wedding anniversary with intimate celebration

A resident at an Ilkley care home was the centre of celebrations as she marked her 102nd birthday in style.

Joan Knott, who lives at MHA Glen Rosa, enjoyed a special party organised by the home to honour the milestone occasion. Staff arranged a gathering in the dining room, where fellow residents and team members came together to celebrate.

Joan was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a homemade birthday cake prepared by the home’s kitchen team, which proved popular with everyone in attendance. One staff member also brought in a neon sign displaying Joan’s age, adding an extra touch to the festivities.

Earlier in her career, Joan worked as a lecturer at Newcastle University before later becoming a librarian. She has lived in Ilkley for more than 40 years.
