MHA hosts informative supporter event at iconic Cheshire venue

There was plenty of joy and reflection at MHA Pennystone Court in Blackpool as Edna Chimes, a beloved resident and true Sandgrown’un, celebrated her 100th birthday in style.

Born and raised in Blackpool, Edna has called Pennystone Court home for the past seven years. Her life has been woven into the fabric of the town, from her wartime service to her time working in the heart of the local market.

To mark her centenary, MHA Pennystone Court hosted two celebrations: an intimate family gathering, and a second party with fellow residents and staff. The home's private dining area was transformed with balloons and banners, and the kitchen team prepared a buffet and birthday cake for Edna and her loved ones.

Activities coordinator Jaide Foster-Howarth said, “Edna had a great time celebrating her birthday and managed to turn the day into two celebrations. She spent the first half of the day with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the second with residents and staff.
