MHA Handsworth takes inspiration from MHA’s annual awards ceremony by creating their own for residents

There were joyous celebrations at MHA Stratton House in Bath as resident Betty Darracott marked her 100th birthday surrounded by close family. Born in Plymouth and a Bath resident since her marriage, Betty has lived at the home since June 2021.

Despite modestly requesting no fuss, Betty was deeply moved by a surprise party arranged by staff. The home’s lounge was decorated with balloons and banners, and Betty’s sons, Brian and Colin, joined the special day.

A buffet and birthday cake, prepared by the kitchen team, were enjoyed by residents and guests. Entertainment included a sing-along led by volunteer Bella, who played both piano and ukulele. Betty received many gifts — including a telegram from the King.
