Staff members at MHA Edina Court mark combined work service of 40 years

A 106-year-old resident, Florence Betts, living at MHA Morel Court, was able to fulfill a lifelong childhood dream of meeting a St Bernard dog.

The wish came about during a pet-themed activity, when Florence shared that she had always wanted a St Bernard. As part of the “Seize the Day” initiative run by Methodist Homes, staff worked to make her dream a reality.

The home’s admin manager contacted St Bernards Trust, which arranged for a St Bernard named Winter to visit. Despite living about 67 miles away, Winter’s owners made the journey to the care home.

During the visit, Winter spent over an hour with Florence and other residents. Florence was delighted, asked many questions about the breed, and was deeply touched by the kindness shown in making her wish come true.
