Birthday celebrations at MHA Davids House as resident celebrates 100th birthday

Ella Sowerby, the granddaughter of former resident Evelyn Dixon, has successfully raised £1,557.50 for MHA Amathea after completing an 80-mile walking challenge. Ella’s original goal was £500, but thanks to the support of friends, family, and the community, she more than tripled that target.

Ella set herself the task of walking an average of 6.66 miles per day over two weeks. Despite some challenging weather conditions, Ella pushed through to complete the walk, all while raising funds for the home’s amenities fund. These funds will contribute towards the planned renovation of the garden at MHA Amathea, which provides care for 40 residents, including those living with dementia.

This isn’t Ella’s first fundraising challenge—last year, she raised over £2,400 for the home.
