“Would never have left if things were different” says home manager at MHA Warde Aldam

Robert "Bob" Lawrence, a resident at MHA Horfield Lodge in Bristol, marked his 103rd birthday with a celebration surrounded by family and friends. Reflecting on his long life, Bob attributed his longevity to a combination of luck and his occasional indulgence in Southern Comfort, which he humorously suggested helps him remain "a silly old man."

Bob, a lifelong Bristol resident, worked as an insurance agent and a supervisor at the Bristol Telephone Exchange. He lived in Backwell with his late wife Nora and their two sons, Robert and Jeremy. His love of music was celebrated during the birthday party, which featured a live singer, while the kitchen staff prepared a delicious birthday cake enjoyed by all.

MHA Horfield Lodge, where Bob has lived since April 10, 2017, provides care to 73 residents, including both residential and dementia care. Bob shared his gratitude for the kindness of the staff, stating that the home is a comfortable place where he's well taken care of.
