Fred Cooper celebrated his 105th birthday

MHA to host supporter event at iconic Cheshire venue

A resident at an Oadby care home who has celebrated his 105th birthday says the secret to a long life is to stay active.

Fred Cooper, who lives at MHA Aigburth, marked the milestone surrounded by close family and the care home team.

Born in Birmingham, Fred spent 13 and a half years serving in the Royal Navy as an air electrical mechanic before finishing his career as a chief petty officer.

After retiring, he moved to Leicester to be closer to his son, John. He also has a daughter, Ann, and has lived at MHA Aigburth for the past eight years.

Despite being blind, Fred continues to exercise regularly using light dumbbells, something he believes has played an important role in helping him reach the remarkable age of 105.

To celebrate his birthday, staff decorated his room, presented him with a birthday badge and organised a birthday cake, while family joined him to mark the special occasion.
