MHA Communities Horsforth marks 30-year anniversary with community celebration

A 95-year-old resident at a Blackpool care home has returned to her love of dancing after staff arranged a special ballet experience to help her relive treasured memories.

Dorothy Murphy, who has lived at MHA Pennystone Court since January 2026, was a keen dancer in her younger years and even met her husband through dancing.

As part of the home’s Seize the Day initiative, Dorothy visited Showstoppers in Topping Street to buy ballet shoes before heading to the Whittaker Dance and Drama Centre in Hornby Road for a dance class.

Initially a little hesitant because of her age and frailty, Dorothy soon embraced the opportunity, enjoying a one-to-one session before joining other members at the centre.
