MHA Warde Aldam, a residential home in Pontefract, has launched a new initiative aimed at bringing extra joy to residents this Christmas. The Giving Tree initiative, being piloted at Warde Aldam and one other MHA care home, focuses on supporting residents who may not have close family or friends to buy them a gift during the festive season.

As part of the initiative, a Christmas tree has been set up at the entrance of the home, decorated with tags. Each tag contains a festive ID along with the likes and dislikes of a resident—while keeping their identity anonymous. Visitors and members of the community are invited to select a tag and purchase a small gift tailored to that resident.

MHA Warde Aldam, which provides dementia nursing and nursing care for 60 residents, hopes the initiative will help ensure every resident receives meaningful gifts this Christmas.
