Family of former resident at MHA Maple Leaf House raise £2500 by doing sponsored walk up Mount Snowdon

“Queen” of MHA Stones Place celebrates landmark birthday with party surrounded by family and friends.

A resident at an Oxford care home marked his 64th wedding anniversary with a special and intimate celebration.

John Spencer, who lives at MHA Brookfield, celebrated the occasion with his wife Jeanette during a lunch date at the home.

The couple first met while living in the village of Theale in West Berkshire, where John worked as a farmer. After dating for two years, they married at Holy Trinity Church in the village. Together they have three children: Michael, who followed in his father’s footsteps and became a farmer, and daughters Deborah and Lisa.

In 1983, John and Jeanette moved to Marcham in Oxfordshire, where they continued to live together until John moved into MHA Brookfield in March 2024.

To mark their anniversary, Jeanette arrived at the home accompanied by their daughter Lisa and brought along a homemade chocolate cake — one of John’s personal favourites.
