Birthday celebrations at MHA Davids House as resident celebrates 100th birthday

A resident of MHA Mapplewell Manor in Barnsley recently took a nostalgic trip back to the high street where she once ran her own business, rekindling cherished memories from years past.

Jean Foulstone, who now lives at the residential care home, returned to Wellington Street—formerly home to Kard Korner, the greeting card shop she proudly owned and managed. For Jean, running her own business remains one of her proudest achievements, and her recent visit marked the first time in many years she had walked down the street where she built her career.

The outing was part of MHA’s Seize the Day initiative, which aims to help residents relive special moments or experience something new and meaningful. Jean was accompanied by Kathryn Watson, the home's activities coordinator, who helped make the memorable day possible.
