Plenty to celebrate at MHA Fitzwarren House as it marks 20-year anniversary along with staff combined service of more than 160 years

Colleagues at MHA Amathea to brave the Irish Sea in bid to raise funds for home

Marjorie Giddins, a resident at MHA Moorland House in Hathersage, marked her 105th birthday with an intimate celebration surrounded by close family members. Originally from Norfolk, Marjorie previously worked as a PA to a director at NIAB Cambridge and has lived at the care home since 2019.

The home’s kitchen team prepared a special birthday cake, and staff and fellow residents sang her Happy Birthday. According to activities coordinator Tina Kerr, Marjorie was “very alert” and clearly enjoyed the occasion.

She received numerous gifts and cards, including a handmade one from fellow residents, but the highlight was a congratulatory telegram from the King—her favorite present. The family expressed their gratitude for the thoughtful arrangements and shared positive feedback with the staff.
