Iris's wedding dress

Iris Dunn, a cherished resident at MHA Morel Court in Penarth, marked her 100th birthday with a day full of joy, surprises, and family love — including a touching moment when her granddaughter brought in her wedding dress as a special surprise.

The celebration took place in The Retreat Lounge at MHA Morel Court, beautifully decorated for the occasion. Iris enjoyed a private party alongside her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Among the many gifts she received was a framed telegram from King Charles III, now proudly displayed in her room. However, it was the sight of her wedding dress that moved her the most, sparking a radiant smile from the centenarian.

Iris, originally from Leicester, moved into MHA Morel Court in August 2022 to be closer to her family. Known for her quiet nature, staff were delighted to see her so animated and joyful on her special day.

Penarth Town Mayor, Councillor Gwenda Roberts, also joined the celebrations, presenting Iris with a bouquet of flowers.
