A resident at MHA Waterside House in Wolverhampton has celebrated her 102nd birthday surrounded by loved ones, fellow residents and staff.

May Barnett marked the special occasion with a family lunch at a local pub before returning to MHA Waterside House for a birthday party with her family, residents and staff.

The home's café and bistro area was decorated for the celebration, while live entertainment helped create a festive atmosphere enjoyed by everyone. May was also treated to two birthday cakes – one prepared by the home's kitchen team and another brought in by her daughter-in-law.

A lifelong resident of Wednesfield, May dedicated time to supporting the Red Cross during the Second World War and also served as a Sunday school teacher at St Thomas Church on Church Street. She has also enjoyed travelling, visiting family in both Australia and New Zealand over the years.

MHA Waterside House provides a safe and caring environment for up to 60 people living with dementia.
