Staff member at MHA Norwood to embark on virtual trip to Berlin to raise funds for home

Residents at MHA Amathea in Workington enjoyed a taste of Nigeria as they embarked on an exciting armchair travel adventure, discovering the country’s culture, history and traditions.

The special themed day saw residents strap themselves into their armchairs, print their boarding passes and prepare for a virtual journey to the African country.

Organised by activity coordinator Yvonne Burrows, alongside residents and staff, the event was designed to celebrate multicultural diversity and help residents learn more about Nigeria, the home of several members of staff.

In the weeks leading up to the event, residents got creative by making Nigerian-inspired arts and crafts, including colourful bunting and a picture board. Resident Alan also played a special part by making traditional Nigerian hats.

The morning began with an introduction to Nigeria’s history and some interesting facts about the country, followed by a fun Nigerian-themed quiz and a spot-the-mistake challenge.
