Combination of fundraisers including one with World Cup theme at MHA Weston and Queensway help to raise over £600

Residents Brian Platt and Leonora Gordan from MHA Waterside House enjoyed a special outing to the Taste of the Caribbean festival at West Park as part of the home’s “Seize the Day” initiative.

Accompanied by activity coordinators Michelle Jones and Kerrie Kenton, the pair spent around two hours at the festival enjoying Caribbean culture, music, food, and dancing. The trip was especially meaningful because Leonora is originally from the Caribbean, while Brian enjoys spicy food and cultural celebrations at the home.

Michelle Jones said the visit was a great success, highlighting how much both residents enjoyed the atmosphere. Brian particularly enjoyed the rum punch and music, while Leonora loved reconnecting with familiar culture and experiences.

The “Seize the Day” initiative encourages residents to revisit meaningful experiences from their past or try something new for the first time.
