MHA Torrwood celebrates long service of colleagues combining to a wonderful 323 years

A Shefford care home resident enjoyed an emotional and memorable trip back to her roots, including a visit to a place close to her heart.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Walker, a resident at MHA Oak Manor, was born and raised in Sheffield. When activity coordinators Jane Pepper and Kelly Carter предложed a visit to the town, Betty was delighted to accept.

Joined by fellow resident and close friend Vi Bambrick, the group set off on a nostalgic journey, revisiting the street where Betty once lived. However, the most poignant moment of the day came when Betty visited the grave of her late husband, Howard, at Campton Cemetery.

Betty brought along a rose she had received on Mother’s Day and gently laid it on Howard’s grave, taking a quiet moment to reflect and speak to him.

MHA Oak Manor provides residential and dementia care for 64 residents, and trips like these form an important part of enhancing residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.
