104-year-old resident at MHA Ryelands inspires area manager to go the extra mile

A dedicated member of staff at a Harwich care home has celebrated an impressive 20 years of service — and says she has no plans to work anywhere else.

Amanda Gouldstone joined MHA Alexandra House in 2006 after being made redundant from her job as a hairdresser. What began as a career change has turned into two decades of commitment to residents and colleagues alike.

Starting out as a care assistant, Amanda has taken on a variety of roles over the years, including senior care assistant, reflexologist and administrative support assistant. She now splits her time between working as an activity coordinator and care assistant at the home, which provides residential and dementia care for 47 residents.

To mark the milestone, Amanda was presented with a long service certificate and a voucher by home manager Kerry Graves.
