The aim of social and activity groups is to help improve the quality of life older people who are socially isolated and may only get out to this activity. Activity Group Leader Volunteers will be the first point of contact at the groups for our members and provide them with the support they need to join in the activity. The Group Leader will be responsible for overseeing the activity, co-ordinating and supporting other social group volunteers to collect money, serve refreshments, and help people with activities.
About the Role
An activities volunteer helps to provide and support the delivery of these events and activities. An activity group leader may run their own stand alone sessions, or specific activities within a larger group. This will be with support from MHA colleagues.
What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer?
By becoming an activity group leader volunteer, you can help older people to have fun and stay active. You can also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.
How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?
The advert details the days and times we're needing help at the moment. There may be other opportunities to volunteer at other time in the future.
Generally, we ask for a minimum of two hours per week for at least six months.
What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?
You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will match you with an older person, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers.
