Funeral collections
Remember someone special
A funeral collection is a simple way for family and friends to remember someone special, while supporting older people to live well in later life.
Whether you choose to collect donations instead of flowers, or alongside other tributes, it can be a meaningful way to honour your loved one.

What is a funeral collection?
A funeral collection gives people the opportunity to donate in memory of someone who has died.
Instead of, or as well as, sending flowers, family and friends can give to a cause that was important to your loved one or to you.
Donations help support older people across MHA’s care homes, retirement living and community services.
How to arrange a funeral collection
Choose how you’d like to collect donations
You may wish to ask for donations instead of flowers, or simply invite people to give at the funeral service or event.
Let people know about the collection
You can share details in the order of service, obituary, or by setting-up a tribute page and sharing the link with family and friends.
Your funeral director can also help by including collection details and arranging envelopes or a donation box.
Pay in your fundraising money
After the service, you can send the donations in a way that works best for you:
- Online: Use our secure donation form to pay in funds quickly and safely.
- By post: Send a cheque made payable to Methodist Homes to:
Fundraising Team
MHA, Epworth House
3 Stuart Street
Derby
DE1 2EQ
Please include covering note letting us know who the donation is from and how it should be used.
Helpful tips
Mention MHA in your service details
Include “MHA (Methodist Homes)” as your nominated charity in the order of service or obituary, so guests know where to direct their generosity.
Provide a donation link
If you have a tribute page or online collection, include the link on the service sheet or in announcements so people can give digitally.
Keep track of donations
Whether you collect cash or cheques, make sure you keep a record of amounts and who donated, especially if you’re sending them in on behalf of others.
