Morel Court care home in Penarth
This warm and welcoming home has been part of the Penarth community since 1975, built on land generously donated by the Gibbs family. Tucked within landscaped gardens and just a short stroll from the seafront and town centre - Morel Court care home offers long-term and short-stay respite residential care in peaceful surroundings and easy access to local life.
With space for just 36 residents, there’s a real sense of community and familiarity. Everyone’s known by name and care is tailored to each individual. A recent refurbishment has brought in fresh, modern touches, including en-suite bedrooms designed for 24-hour care, comfort and privacy. It's a place that feels lived-in, loved, and most importantly - like home.

Dining that delights
At this Penarth care home, everyone’s invited to new menu tastings - with families often joining in for a bite or two! Favourites include goats’ cheese tartlets or a hearty Sunday roast, and there’s always something special when there’s a birthday to celebrate. Whether it’s a lemon drizzle cake for Edna’s 97th, a towering stack of profiteroles for Derek, or a birthday trifle for Sarah, the little details really matter.
There’s plenty of hands-on fun in the kitchen too - like making rhubarb crumble with rhubarb picked straight from the garden. Special themed events such as Pie Week (with proper Welsh Clarks pies) or cheese and wine afternoons add even more flavour to the mix. It’s all about great food, good company, and plenty of shared moments.

When you think of a care home, what springs to mind?
Life at Morel Court care home here is all about seizing the moment - and having a good laugh along the way. From a helicopter flight at 92 years of age to a speedboat spin with the Penarth RNLI, there’s never a dull day. One resident relived their days working in a sweet shop, while another’s beach wish came true with a full-on sandcastle session by the sea.
There’s always something going on, whether it’s a lively ‘Funky Friday’ dance or the weekly Gentlemen’s Club outing to the pub. Residents even got a surprise on national TV when they were introduced to their new cat Scottie who within minutes snuggled onto their laps.
