Meals made with residents in mind

When someone moves into an MHA care home, our catering team takes time to understand their likes, dislikes, dietary requirements and any support they may need at mealtimes.

Our menus offer a variety of choices and are regularly reviewed. We also listen to feedback from residents so that their ideas and preferences can help shape the food we serve.

Mealtimes provide an opportunity to spend time with others, but residents can choose where they would prefer to eat and receive support when needed.

Supporting individual needs

Our chefs can cater for a range of nutritional, dietary, cultural and personal requirements.

We also provide texture-modified meals for residents who have difficulties eating, drinking or swallowing. These are prepared in line with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative, known as IDDSI.

Adaptive crockery and cutlery can also be provided to help residents eat and drink as safely and independently as possible.

Maintaining quality and food safety

Our care home kitchens follow clear procedures covering food preparation, hygiene, allergens and nutritional requirements.

They are independently inspected by local authority environmental health teams, with the food hygiene rating for each home published on its individual webpage.

We also have chef coaches who work with our care home catering teams. They provide training, advice and practical support covering food preparation, menu planning, nutrition and food safety, helping us maintain and improve the quality of the meals we provide.
