"Outstanding" care home in Swindon
Glastonbury's Michael Eavis, knows all about bringing people together to create new memories. So, he was a fitting person to open our Outstanding care home in Swindon. But it’s the people who live and work here that creates such a special environment. Many of our team have devoted decades of their career to us and we think this is one of the reasons people find Fitzwarren House so instantly and unmistakably welcoming.
Set in a quiet rural location, Fitzwarren House care home is dedicated to providing personalised, 24-hour dementia and general nursing care to its 64 residents. Situated on the same site as Fitzwarren Court and Stanton Lodge retirement living, and part of MHA Communities group in Swindon, there is a real sense of wider kinship. The sense that you’re surrounded by people who care. That you’re at home.
When you think of a care home, what springs to mind?
A visiting herd of alpacas perhaps? A raucous musical rendition to welcome the weekend? Maybe it’s an exercise class inspired by British Gymnastics? Or the tinkling soar of one of our home’s three pianos? Every day is different at our care home in Swindon, thanks to our creative and energetic activities co-ordinators.
You’ll receive a warm welcome from our furry friends too. There’s Fitz and Warren, our aptly named black cat double act, who know just who to bat their eyelashes at to receive a treat or two. Then there’s Trudy the border collie, whose status as an honorary team member grants her access throughout our homes and gardens.
Just wait until the rhubarb’s ready
Our chefs are at the heart of Fitzwarren House, shaping seasonal menus around the changing tastes and nutritional needs of our residents. May and June are the most long-awaited months as this is when the rhubarb ripens. Grown from our garden, the enormous rhubarb plant returns dutifully each year, allowing us to perfect the home’s signature crumble.
And we mustn’t forget a special mention for the fresh cakes and biscuits. It would be impossible to pick a favourite from the ever-evolving plates of warming bakes, but you should never leave our Swindon care home unless you’ve sampled our famous buttery shortbread dipped in chocolate.
