The MHA Central Befriending Team offer telephone, online and face-to face befriending services for older people across Britain, to help tackle feelings of loneliness and isolation.

As a CBT Volunteer Fundraiser, you will explore creative ways to raise funds in your area to support the CBT team and the great work they do. The role may include the planning and running of fundraising events ora raffles, securing local sponsorship, giving talks, and locating donation boxes in the community, all in line with MHA policies.

Responsibilities

  • To assist the Central Befriending Team with the planning, organising and running of fundraising events.

  • The tasks involved will vary according to the event, but may include identifying suitable venues, planning programmes, producing publicity materials and co-ordinating ticket sales.

  • Give talks / presentations to local groups like the Lions and W.I in the hope of encouraging them to raise funds for the service.

  • Assist with the organisation of local business fundraising and sponsorship.

  • Organising donation box events in the community.

  • To liaise with your named contact regarding tasks and deadlines.

  • To attend any volunteer meetings as required. These may be in person, if local, or over teams.

  • To be familiar with and to adhere MHA’s Health and Safety Policies and policies relating to your volunteering role.

  • To inform your named contact at the earliest opportunity of any change in circumstances which affect your ability to continue with volunteering, such as holidays or periods of time you cannot volunteer.

 

What training and support will be provided?

  • We will provide you with a full induction for the role.

  • Ongoing support from a named contact

  • Out of pocket expenses in accordance with MHA’s Expenses Policy

  • Training and updating of skills and knowledge relevant to the role as appropriate

  • Access to an Employee Assistant Programme (Free 24/7 Counselling Service)
