A volunteer is required for our cafe serving refreshments in our care home to our residents and visitors. You will be doing some light activities and enjoying conversations with the residents, and dealing with money from our visitors. There will be some clearing up at the end of your session such as clearing tables, collecting the dishes for washing up, wiping down tables etc.

What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer?

Volunteering in our care home can help reduce feelings of social isolation and loneliness, improve mental and physical health, increase confidence and self-esteem, and enhance the quality of life of older people.  You can also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.

How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?

We ask that you can volunteer for at least 6 months and can commit to at least 2 hours each week.

What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?

You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will match you with an older person, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers. Travel expenses will be paid.
