The role of the lunch club volunteer is to support this valuable service, which aims to help improve the quality of life older people who are socially isolated and may only get out to this activity.

Volunteers help in groups to provide group members with the support they need to join in and enjoy the activity, as well as supporting members on a one-to-one basis.  The role will also involve setting and clearing tables and helping to prepare and serve refreshments.

What are the benefits of becoming a social groups volunteer? 

The aim of lunch club is to help improve the quality-of-life older members in the community. Through supporting this activity, you'll help older people to connect with others, and enjoy a hot,  nutritious meal.  You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.

How much time do I need to commit as a social groups volunteer? 

Every Monday, Tuesday or Thursday between 9am -3.30pm for at least 3 hours.  There may be other opportunities to volunteer at other time in the future.  

Generally, we ask for a minimum of 3 hours per week for at least six months.

What kind of support will I receive as an social groups volunteer?  

You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will support you in your role, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers.
Travel expenses will be paid.
