Christmas Wishes
Christmas is a time filled with feeling of togetherness and cheer but for many older people, those feelings are replaced with ones of loneliness and isolation.
No more silent nights
This time last year was awful after losing Jim, but this year has been totally different. Since becoming part of my local MHA Community, I've eaten fish and chips at the seaside (somewhere I've not been for so long!), enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch, visited a Christmas market, and even received a kind and thoughtful gift from the young lady who calls me as part of MHA's befriending service. We can talk for hours about travel! I feel SO much more as part of something this year.
I had no idea this sort of thing existed. I wish I'd known last year when I was so low.
MHA do such great work in the community and their befriending service has really been invaluable to me, and I'm sure many others. Perhaps you would consider donating so they can continue to do more great work? I know I will be.
Wishing you a very happy Christmas!

Give the gift of connection this Christmas
I decided to volunteer for MHA because I wanted to make a difference in my community, support people who might be feeling isolated or alone, and also meet somebody new because I'm really extroverted and enjoy meeting new people.
Befriending at Christmas is important as it is quite an isolating and can be a very challenging time for people, especially those who don't have loved ones or family who live close.
Eden, Befriending Volunteer
What I enjoy most about volunteering with MHA is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. The sense of community and the impacts we have together make my volunteer experience incredibly rewarding.
By offering companionship and a listening ear, befriending at Christmas brings warmth, joy and the sense of belonging to those who must otherwise feel forgotten, making the season brighter and more meaningful for everyone who involved.
