As a General Care Home Volunteer you will provide valuable support to the care home team by offering a flexible approach and completing or assisting with tasks as required.
There are so many things to help with, either with residents directly or supporting staff and we would like volunteers to be flexible but also to choose what they are comfortable with. Tasks could vary week to week and include supporting with activities, admin, serving meals and refreshments and more.
What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer?
By becoming an activities volunteer, you can help older people to have fun and stay active. You can also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.
How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?
We are looking for volunteers who can offer us at least two hour per week for at least six months.
What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?
You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will match you with an older person, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers.

- Are aged 16 and over
- Good organisation skills.
- Good listening skills
- The ability to engage yourself and others in a wide range of activities.
- Patience, empathy, and understanding of the needs of older people
- Ability to keep records of visits made
- Flexible, reliable, and punctual
- A clear sense of personal boundaries and confidentiality
- Able to provide non-judgemental support
- Engage with training and development.
