Our Member Review and Assessment Volunteers provide a vital role in supporting an older person as a member. Our volunteers provide a warm friendly face, building trust, rapport and confidence for an older person to attend social activities, so often needed when an older person who has very few friends or family living close by.
Our volunteers also provide insight into how members are benefitting from the activities and services that are offered by our services.
Every person who undertakes a member assessment and/or a member review is given full and comprehensive training.
What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer?
By becoming a member review and assessment volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting an older person as a member. You will help us understand what the member needs to enable them to live later life well, and provide insight into the services which are needed in the area, to help us plan future delivery.
You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.
How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?
The advert details the days and times we're needing help at the moment. There may be other opportunities to volunteer at other time in the future.
Generally, we ask for a minimum of one hour per week for at least six months.
What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?
You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will match you with an older person, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers.

- Are aged 18 and over
- Good listening skills
- Patience, empathy, and understanding of the needs of older people
- Ability to keep records of visits made
- Flexible, reliable, and punctual
- A clear sense of personal boundaries
- Respect and maintain confidentiality
- Able to provide supportive and non-judgemental support
- You will be willing to join in with training and development
- You will have a good understanding of your personal strengths and limitations
