Minibus driver - MHA Glen Rosa, Ilkley

As a Volunteer Minibus Driver you will be responsible for the safety of the older people in your care.

You will escort people from the home on to the minibus, and then take them to various activities and trips out and see them safely back into their home. By volunteering as a Minibus driver, you will not only help older people to have fun and stay active, but also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.

Skills and qualities needed for this role

• Good communication skills.
• A current driving licence including entitlement to drive class of vehicle intended.
• An understanding of the needs of older people.
• You will be reliable and punctual.
• Flexibility.
• You’ll have a strong driving safety awareness.
• You’ll enjoy working with older people.

What training and support will be provided

• We will provide you with a full induction for the role.
• Ongoing support from a named contact
• Out of pocket expenses in accordance with MHA’s Expenses Policy
• Training and updating of skills and knowledge relevant to the role as appropriate
• DBS Requirements - This role requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check as it involves 1-1 contact with Scheme members or care home residents.

Times and Commitment

• We ask that you make a minimum of six months commitment to this role.
• We ask you to be able to commit regularly to driving older people to the activities, as agreed with the person who supports you
