Befriending can help reduce feelings of social isolation and loneliness, improve mental and physical health, increase confidence and self-esteem, and enhance the quality of life of older people. By raising money for the MHA Central Befriending Team, you will be helping the team to continue this vital work, to enable older people to live later life well.

    • We ask that you are able to commit time on a regular basis (at least one hour a week) as agreed with your named contact.

Brighten someone’s day and make a meaningful connection be becoming a volunteer telephone befriender. By offering regular, friendly chats, you’ll provide much-needed companionship and emotional support to an older person feeling lonely or isolated. Flexible and rewarding, this role allows you to fit calls around your schedule while helping to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing.
