What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer?

Volunteering can help reduce feelings of social isolation and loneliness, improve mental and physical health, increase confidence and self-esteem, and enhance the quality of life of older people.  You can also enrich your own life with new experiences and friendships. You will also gain valuable skills and knowledge that can enhance your personal and professional development.

How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?

It will be on the days you are available and when you are needed to do talks.  There may be other opportunities to volunteer at other time in the future.  Generally, we ask for a minimum of one hour per week for at least six months.

What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?

You will receive ongoing support and guidance from a local coordinator who will match you with an older person, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers. Travel expenses will be paid.
