The Martins care home in Bury St Edmunds
The Martins Care Home, located in the picturesque town of Bury St Edmunds, provides compassionate residential and dementia care for up to 42 residents, along with short-term respite care. Known for its welcoming, home-from-home atmosphere, The Martins is staffed by a passionate care team who deliver personalised support in a friendly, nurturing environment. Each care plan is developed with input from residents and their families, ensuring that care is truly tailored to the individual.
Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, The Martins offers residents stunning views of the historic Abbey of St Edmund and its remarkable Abbey Gardens, creating a peaceful backdrop for daily life. A dedicated Activity Coordinator organises a diverse programme, including arts and crafts, armchair exercises, baking, games, and summer afternoon teas in the garden. For residents with dementia, award-winning music therapy sessions are available, along with innovative resources like HUG dolls, robotic pets, and an interactive magic table, all designed to enhance well-being and engagement.
Spiritual support is a key part of life at The Martins, with a dedicated Chaplain providing regular pastoral care to residents and their families, respecting all beliefs and backgrounds. The Martins offers a truly supportive community where each resident can enjoy a fulfilling and connected life.
Discover tranquility in our gardens
Bursting with a kaleidoscope of colours throughout spring, summer and autumn, our beautifully maintained grounds feature a substantial summer house, where residents and their families while away the afternoons to the quiet sounds of the birds and bees all around them.
An elevated veranda opening from the home sits splendidly above the gardens, swallowing the afternoon sun, and presenting an idyllic view onto the grounds below. We think it’s the perfect place for a gin and tonic with friends. But you’d be welcome to join us to decide for yourself.
Dining with a view
It’s easy to understand why mealtimes are so important at The Martins. Aside from the freshly prepared, home-cooked food, the dining area itself offers beautiful views over the garden and towards the cathedral. It’s no wonder lunchtimes so often turn into entire afternoons spent with fellow residents, family and friends.
Like anything at The Martins, our residents and their families are at the heart of everything we do. Their collaborative ‘food forum’ meets regularly to share ideas and feedback that informs the evolution of our menus… all of which are designed to be both delicious and nutritious – feeding your body and nourishing your soul.
