Pennystone Court care home in Blackpool
When you first visit Pennystone Court, it isn’t the sights and sounds of the seaside that will stay with you, despite the short stroll to the seafront. It’s probably not the design of the home either. Lovely though it is.
Instead, it’s the spirit of positivity and warmth that permeates our home, with a mantra to ‘make great things happen’, no matter what it takes.
It’s this positive outlook that has created a home filled with uplifting stories, energising people, and amazing achievements. It’s the reason you can feel such a strong sense of togetherness. Because when there’s an idea or opportunity to make later life better for residents. It happens.
Discover tranquility in our gardens
There are two sides to the gardens at Pennystone Court care home in Blackpool. Each equally enchanting.
On one hand is the sensory garden with its raised beds and planters flowing with herbs and lavender. A stroll through this section of the grounds comes accompanied with the buzzing of bees and the floating aroma of mint as you brush by.
There’s the greenhouse too, and its annual treasure of strawberries and tomatoes that are welcomed into our care home kitchen and onto the tables of residents. There’s pots and troughs overflowing with flowers, often tended by our residents, and usually finding their way onto a welcoming windowsill inside Pennystone Court.
Food and nutrition
You can taste the care at Pennystone Court. And that’s never more apparent than in our chef’s famous pavlova. Huge mounds of fluffy meringue are stuffed with cream and fresh fruit, bringing joy to our residents and their guests.
Unfortunately, ‘pavlova day’ rarely brings the best etiquette out of people. A handful of spoons is all it takes before people get stuck in. So, we forget about the plates.
As you’d expect, the menu is shaped around the ideas and preferences of our residents. With quarterly review meetings giving everyone the opportunity to make their mark on mealtimes.
